Disciples Coffee Roasters, located at 199 E. 52nd St., Suite 140 in Garden City, will be holding its grand opening this Saturday between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. As part of the grand opening, owner Joey Melrose will be bringing in a bounce house for kids and will be serving fresh nitro-brewed coffee.

"This is a family-friendly coffee shop where children aren't frowned upon," Melrose said. "We want families in here. We want it to be a communal place for families to come."

Leveraging previous experience, Melrose envisions Disciples Coffee Roasters as a bit of a nitro-brew revolution in the Boise coffee scene.

By bringing coffee beans sourced from around the world and pairing them with the nitro-brew process, Melrose said Disciples Coffee will capitalize on all the many notes of flavor present in the beans they collect.

"What nitro coffee is is its coffee that was brewed with nitrogen gas," Melrose said. "What that gas does is it preserves the coffee so you can keg this product, and you can run it on a tap like a Guinness Beer."

To keep Disciples as open and welcoming as possible, Melrose said other non-caffeinated and non-alcoholic drinks needed to be available.

"We work with eight or nine kombucha brands and rotate through seasonally," Melrose said. "We also have an organic root beer on tap. We have access to a lot of non-alcoholic options on tap."

As the grand opening approaches, Melrose said he was happy to see his dream of a community-oriented nitro-brew-focused coffee shop become a reality.
