Cass Township Man Arrested for Stealing Vehicle

A Cass Township man is locked up in Schuylkill County Prison after stealing a vehicle on Tuesday.

According to Cass Township Police, on Tuesday, February 15th, 2022, the were called to a home on High Road regarding the theft of a vehicle.

A woman at the home told officers that her cousin, Brian Chapman, had stolen her boyfriends Ford F150.

Several hours later, Branch Township Police found the vehicle abandoned in the middle of Phoenix Park Road.

On Wednesday evening, Chapman was taken into custody at a home in Pottsville.

Chapman was arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge Anthony Kilker and locked up him on $10,000 straight cash bail.

Chapman faces charges of theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, and driving with a suspended or revoked license.

In an added twist to this incident, on Tuesday morning, several hours before the theft, Chapman home caught fire on Elk Lane in Cass Township.

Firefighters responded and found a heavy fire in the basement of the home.  Cass Township Police said Chapman lived at the home with two other people.

A State Police Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
