NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - TaRon Francis is the latest in a long line of electrifying wide receivers at Karr. And like the others before him, Francis possesses a memorable nickname, “Manchild.”
“I was nine years old when I played for the New Orleans Panthers. They said I was a child, but I played like a man. That’s where it came from,” said junior TaRon Francis.
“Yeah, he’s just as good as Racey (McMath), Speedy (Noil), Destyn (Hill), Aaron (Anderson). He has that ability, he has that work ethic. Even before this interview he’s working out,” said Karr head coach Brice Brown.
Francis committed to the LSU Tigers last fall. That class is currently No. 1 in the country for 2025.
“Since I went there, it just felt like home. First day I walked in there, it just felt like home. Got a relationship with Coach Frank. The receiver coach (Cortez Hankton), we real close, we talk every day. Yeah, I’m very excited, we got a nice class,” said Francis.
“For him, he didn’t want to go far from home. LSU is a good place to go to school that’s not too far from. They have a good track record of developing wide receivers. We have Aaron there. Hopefully that brotherhood will extend with both of those guys being from Karr. When we were at the Auburn game when TaRon committed, Aaron was there to congratulate him. They were both excited,” said Brown.
Francis excels at wide receiver and in the return game. Coach Brown can’t fathom why opposing teams kick to “Manchild,” because there’s no chance he would do it.
“Now punt return, I don’t know why they’re kicking it to him. I would kick it straight out of bounds if it was me. He’s done an exceptional job in developing his return skills this year, especially on punt returns, last year was his first time doing it,” said Brown.
Francis and the rest of his 2025 class can sign in December for early signing day, and as an early enrollee Francis will be on campus in Baton Rouge come January of 2025.
