In Hogwarts Legacy, the entirety of Hogwarts, the castle ground, Hogsmeade, and the surrounding locales are open for you to explore. Many of these areas are home to secret passageways and locked doors that you will come across every so often during your playthrough.
The locked doors, in particular, are perplexing, mostly because there are levels attached to them and the game doesn't really explain how to get past them. If you're a Harry Potter fan, you are probably familiar with the unlocking charm, Alohomora, which can be used to open these doors. But how exactly do you get your hands on this spell in Hogwarts Legacy? Read on to find out.
REMINDER - Hogwarts Legacy was due to launch on PS4 and Xbox One on April 4, but now won't release until 5 May 2023.

Alohomora spell guide in Hogwarts Legacy
To unlock the Alohomora spell in Hogwarts Legacy, you must finish the main quest, "The Caretaker's Lunar Lament." You will come across this halfway into the game, and depending on how many side quests and exploration you decide to do between completing the main missions, it could take between 10-20 hours to reach it.
The quest is simple and won't take more than 15 minutes to finish. Without going much into the spoiler territory, you must collect something called Demiguise statuses for Hogwarts' caretaker Gladwin Moon. Obtain these items and give them back to Moon, and he will teach you how to unlock level 1 locks via the Alohmora spell. Ironic, isn't it?
However, simply casting the spell won't open up the level 1 lock in Hogwarts Legacy. There's also a lock-picking mini-game that you must beat to open the door. Thankfully, it's very easy to conquer.
The lock has two different sparks associated with two unique gears. The trick is to move them with the Left and Right analog sticks, respectively until you hear a vibration. Doing so will activate the gear and open up the door.
How to unlock level 2 and 3 locks in Hogwarts Legacy
To unlock the level 2 and 3 door locks in Hogwarts Legacy, you must find the remaining Demiguise statues in the game and complete the side quest, "The Man Behind The Moons." There are a total of nine of them scattered across Hogwarts, and we will make a separate guide pinpointing their locations very soon.
That concludes our guide on how to unlock the Alohomora spell in Hogwarts Legacy.
